When the sun rises in this view
From early March to mid-October the sun rises inside this frame. Around the equinoxes it comes up straight out of the sea, just beyond the end of the coast, right at the official sunrise time.
In late spring and summer the sunrise moves to the left, over the mountains at the Italian border, and the sun appears 30–40 minutes after sunrise. From mid-October to early March it rises beyond the right edge of this view, although its first light still reaches the statues of the cemetery.
