When the sun sets in this view
Between late August and mid-April the sun sets inside this frame. In December it goes down on the left, over the sea; around the equinoxes it sets over the hills west of Nice, right of centre.
From mid-April to late August the sun sets further to the north-west, beyond the right edge of this view. In midwinter, because the viewpoint is high above the sea, the sun stays visible until about the official sunset time. Around the equinoxes and in spring and late summer it disappears behind the hills west of Nice and the foothills of the Alps, often hidden in haze, about 10–17 minutes earlier.
